As a Bug in a Rug

Everybody enjoys having a furnished basement. It’s a nice place to relax, light a fire and watch the big game. But one mistake that many people make is to furnish their basements with rugs and carpets instead of solid flooring. As comfortable as it may make the environment on “Super Sunday,” the fibers of carpets in basements can be a literal refuge for mold.

Carpets collect dust and particles that filter through the air and eventually settle, and moisture is nearly impossible to totally remove from their thick, absorbent fibers. As we’ve said before, these particles combine with that moisture (which is already prevalent in basements) to form mold. With every step, your kicking that carpet mold up into the air where it can settle on clothing, furniture and in your lungs.

If you need your own private hideaway, consider a nice linoleum or tile floor where dust particles and moisture can easily be seen and cleaned away. If you’re already suffering from a moldy basement carpet, call the experts to take your den to the cleaners.

I was actually having a discussion with my Mrs about rug cleaners a few hours ago. This blog is very interesting, I have learnt something new. Cheers from London!

    Carpet in the basement?

Where do people come up with such risky ideas, for the illusion of comfort, recreation, and sanctuary at the risk of mold contamination is typical of today’s consumer. People view ideas and photos in magazines and do it yourself television programs, but the public’s lack of education and legitimate information on potential mold fostering environments, could be remedied by merely making a phone call to a professional.
One website to research for valuable information would be http://www.moldinspectionscharlotte.com. Inspector David Paul Snell owns several companies with a seasoned history or professional and licensed mold inspection and remediation. I speculate most experts such as Inspector Snell would recommend not installing carpet in a basement, particularly in southern climates which tend to be more humid, for the long term ramifications could become serious housing problems.
Carpet is a notorious trap for a variety of allergens, but the potential to trap and retain moisture in a basement setting, creates the perfect moisture/food source combination to grow and to proliferate mold.
Follow the recommendations of the experts at Mold Inspections Charlotte, under the experienced leadership of Inspector Snell. From experience this company can almost predict typical outcomes for something such as carpet in a basement, for they have the experience of remedying such common occurences.
